Estimation and Validation of Land Surface Temperature Using Chinese Geostationary FengYun Meteorological Satellite (FY-2D) Data in an Arid Region

چکیده
This study calibrated a refined split-window algorithm for land surface temperature (LST) retrieval based on Fengyun-2D (FY-2D) meteorological satellite. First, FY-2D emissivity (LSE) was predicted from Moderate-resolution Imaging Spectroradiometer (MODIS) LSE sensors spectral similarities. The retrieved LST data were validated in an arid region where the traditional generally performed unsatisfactorily. Validation results show R 2 (coefficient of determination) and RMSE (root mean square error) values range 0.53–0.67 2.86–6.21 K, respectively, against ground observed LST. Better retrievals over vegetated regions with value ~2.8 K. Spatially, highly correlated (R = 0.83) showed marginal differences (±2 K) MODIS ~40% whole area.

Generalized Split-Window Algorithm for Estimate of Land Surface Temperature from Chinese Geostationary FengYun Meteorological Satellite (FY-2C) Data
On the basis of the radiative transfer theory, this paper addressed the estimate ofLand Surface Temperature (LST) from the Chinese first operational geostationarymeteorological satellite-FengYun-2C (FY-2C) data in two thermal infrared channels (IR1,10.3-11.3 μ m and IR2, 11.5-12.5 μ m ), using the Generalized Split-Window (GSW)algorithm proposed by Wan and Dozier (1996). The coefficients in the...
متن کاملEstimation of the Land Surface Temperature over the Tibetan Plateau by Using Chinese FY-2C Geostationary Satellite Data
During the process of land-atmosphere interaction, one of the essential parameters is the land surface temperature (LST). The LST has high temporal variability, especially in its diurnal cycle, which cannot be acquired by polar-orbiting satellites. Therefore, it is of great practical significance to retrieve LST data using geostationary satellites. According to the data of FengYun 2C (FY-2C) sa...
متن کاملEvaluation of Land Surface Temperature Retrieval from FY-3B/VIRR Data in an Arid Area of Northwestern China
This paper uses the refined Generalized Split-Window (GSW) algorithm to derive the land surface temperature (LST) from the data acquired by the Visible and Infrared Radiometer on FengYun 3B (FY-3B/VIRR). The coefficients in the GSW algorithm corresponding to a series of overlapping ranges for the mean emissivity, the atmospheric Water Vapor Content (WVC), and the LST are derived using a statist...

We evaluated the precision of land surface temperature (LST) operationally retrieved from the Korean multipurpose geostationary satellite, Communication, Ocean and Meteorological Satellite (COMS). The split-window (SW)-type retrieval algorithm was developed through radiative transfer model simulations under various atmospheric profiles, satellite zenith angles, surface emissivity values and sur...
متن کاملEstimation and Validation of Land Surface Temperatures from Chinese Second-Generation Polar-Orbit FY-3A VIRR Data
This work estimated and validated the land surface temperature (LST) from thermal-infrared Channels 4 (10.8 μm) and 5 (12.0 μm) of the Visible and Infrared Radiometer (VIRR) onboard the second-generation Chinese polar-orbiting FengYun-3A (FY-3A) meteorological satellite. The LST, mean emissivity and atmospheric water vapor content (WVC) were divided into several tractable sub-ranges with little...
